Looking Glass: A Benefit Series from Mexican Summer

back to list

The Brooklyn record label launches a new single series with all proceeds going directly to the artists.

Mexican Summer has always supported adventurous music, and Looking Glass, an initiative created as a way to directly benefit artists during these uncertain times, stands testament to this. With the wellbeing and longevity of artists top of mind, the Brooklyn-based independent record label got together with musicians from its roster as well as those close to the label to create a single series inspired by the human condition with all proceeds going to the artist or charity of their choice.

The series launches today through Bandcamp (which has been waiving revenue in an effort to support artists) with a reinterpretation of Connan Mockasin’s “I Want Troll With You” by MGMT’s Andrew VanWyngarden. More tracks will be shared in the days and weeks to come including contributions from Ariel Pink, Kikagaku Moyo, Julie Byrne, to name just a few.
