If you want to talk music, Alix Brown is your woman. She also knows more than a thing or two about fashion, especially where to find the best vintage in the city. She hails from Atlanta, Georgia, but is now a major player in the NYC music scene—spinning vinyl, playing live shows, and working as the Music Director for Soho Grand Hotel and Roxy Hotel.

I love Greece. The way the air smells and the way the ocean and the sun make my skin and hair perfect. I could grow old there.

Watch films in the Roxy Cinema.

IF YOU COULD CHOOSE ONE PERSON TO SHOW YOU “THEIR NEW YORK CITY,” WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY? 
I’d love to walk around NYC with Leonard Cohen and have him give me a tour of the Chelsea Hotel.

WHO OR WHAT HAS INSPIRED YOU RECENTLY? 
Egon Schiele’s nudes at the Met Breuer.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE NYC RESTAURANTS? WHAT DO YOU ORDER THERE? 
Omen for Uni and all things Japanese, Shun Lee for Hoisin duck and Chinese, Café Sabarsky for a real Austrian experience, Macao for ribs, Mogador for chicken tagine.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE NYC BRUNCH SPOTS?
Roxy Hotel, Yves, and Petrossian.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE ARTIST?
I love Erte and Beardsley.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE LATE-NIGHT HANGOUTS IN NYC?
Blue Ribbon Brasserie (they serve oysters til 4am), Paul’s Baby Grand, and sometimes you may see me eating a burger at Tompkins Square Bar.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE NYC STORES?
Opening Ceremony, Ritual Vintage, What Goes Around Comes Around, and Tokio 7.

WHAT MUSIC ARE YOU LISTENING TO THESE DAYS? WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE MUSICIANS?
These days I’ve been listening to a lot of Ethiopian groove, Nigerian funk, Italo Disco, and freak folk. My favorite musicians are always my friends… Curtis Harding, Black Lips, and Surfbort!
