WILFIE and NELL
Dubliners Mark and Simon Gibson, brothers who named the bar for their grandparents, encourage guests to squeeze in at a table of strangers to share a drink and a conversation. People are drawn to this West Village pub by the social atmosphere and energetic vibe found only in a place with communal tables, but it’s the phenomenal locally-sourced food that keeps them here late into the evening. The pub-grub menu was created by Momofuku and The Rusty Knot’s Joaquin Baca, whose love for all-things-porcine is amply reflected in the Wilfie & Nell menu. Think pigs in blankets, hard-boiled eggs wrapped in sausage and Berkshire pork sliders with pickles and whole grain mustard. It’s the corned-beef-and-gruyère sandwich that keeps us coming back, however, particularly in the winter when this space becomes a cozy refuge from Jack Frost’s bitter nip.
