From the team behind Mimi, this scaled-down 55-seat bistro on MacDougal Street in the West Village takes its cues from Vienna and the Basque country. The interiors provide instant calm with elegant touches of forest-green, honeyed burled wood accents and vintage light fixtures from Paris. As for the menu, expect lots of fish and meat. Our favorites include the côte de boeuf for two, smoked crab Louie salad, chicken andouille sausage with borlotti beans and smoked grapes, and the seafood platter available raw or grilled. The cocktail menu celebrates the classic, and desert here is a must—nothing too heavy or over the top.
